Plagued by a series of injuries to some of its key players, the Indian team, led by new captain Anil Kumble, takes the field against Pakistan in the first Test of the three-match series at the Ferozeshah Kotla here from Thursday.
The 37-year-old leg-spinner, a veteran of 118 Test matches, begins his tryst at the helm at a venue he has fond memories of. Kumble scalped all 10 wickets in an innings at the same venue eight years ago against the same opponents.
But even before he marked his Test captaincy debut, he had to make some tough calls off the field.
